The brief Teachers TV Australia is a new project based on the successful UK cable channel and broadband site www.teachers.tv which was established by the British government in 2004. The essence of this education project was to enable time-poor teachers the chance to access engaging programs which help them teach and encourage teachers to share techniques, initiatives and ideas with their peers online and offline. The Australian team needed a broadband web presence to mark the start of a unique local resource for teachers to enhance professional development using online video and program resources. All this had to be achieved in under six weeks. The solution With Teachers TV Australia securing the rights to use UK content, our team audited over 1500 videos with the help of a small teachers panel in order to select programming that would be relevant to Australian professionals. In addition, an Australian version of the brand was conceptualised and created for use online. A predominantly video-based site and library was created to provide an easy-to-use place for teachers to access licenced UK teaching programs while the operation scales up in preparation for Australian content production. Due to specific licensing requirements, the site is also built behind a walled garden with free registration tools. Our solution allowed Teachers TV Australia to: - deploy rapidly as soon as licensing agreements were cleared with the UK
- begin building resources for the production of Australian programs
- begin communicating with registered teachers and other educationalists when programming starts
- begin attracting important teacher and education department support across the country.

With the project in its early stages, official promotion has not begun. Despite this, after just four months, the site enjoys several thousand registered contributors and receives regular idea and story submissions from participating educators. We have programmed over 700 videos for educators which can be used and shared 24/7 between the teachers. Visit teacherstv.com.au |
